A Franklin County judge Tuesday ordered the suspect in the fatal shootings of two Westerville police officers held without bond.

30-year-old Quentin Smith is charged with killing officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli earlier this month. County prosecutor Ron O'Brien says he will seek the death penalty.

Smith's mother says her son has several mental health issues. But Fraternal Order of Police spokesperson Brian Toth says that should not matter.

Smith is due back in court on March 1.
