Former Local Teacher Pleads Guilty In Cancer Hoax

Westerville Police

Sentencing is scheduled March 23rd for a former Westerville and Columbus City Schools teacher who pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of masterminding a hoax in which she collected thousand of dollars in paid leave by falsely claiming she had cancer.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Christine Gill also falsely claimed that her husband had died of cancer. She was charged last year, and resigned when authorities began investigating.
