A Newark foster father has pleaded not guilty to upgraded charges of murdering a child.
30-year-old Kenneth Schulz has been indicted on murder and involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of 5-year-old Nathaniel Gard last June. Prosecutors say the man severely beat the child, causing the fatal injuries.
