A third wrongful death lawsuit has been filed alleging a doctor at Mount Carmel West hospital caused a patient's death by improperly prescribing a lethal dose of fentanyl.

Mount Carmel Health System CEO Ed Lamb says William Husel ordered fentanyl for at least 27 patients in dosages significantly larger than necessary after their families asked that lifesaving measures be stopped.

The latest suit alleges a "grossly inappropriate dose" of fentanyl led to the July 15 death of 44-year-old Troy Allison. The law firm representing Husel is declining comment.
