DeWine's Office Says Ohio House Speaker Agrees To Eleven-Cent Gas Tax Hike

Governor Mike DeWine's office says the state gas tax would rise by 11-cents-per gallon in a deal reached Thursday with the speaker of the Ohio House on the state transportation budget.

The deal also calls for a tax increase of 20-cents per gallon for diesel fuel. The Senate has proposed a six-cent increase in its version of the budget. DeWine originally sought an 18-cent increase. A joint Senate-House conference committee was scheduled to meet Thursday evening to iron out differences between the two plans.
