Local Group Funding Armed Off-Duty Cops In Synagogues For Sabbath

A religious organization plans to spend 500 thousand dollars to hire armed off-duty police officers to patrol synagogues and other Jewish buildings in central Ohio.

Jewish Columbus says officers will be in place for Sabbath services this weekend and they are raising funds to continue the effort long term. The organization says the initiative is in response to recent attacks on synagogues in Pittsburgh and southern California.
