Local Jewish Leaders Say They Have Been Improving Synagogue Security For Years

In the wake of the weekend shooting at a synagogue in San Diego, Columbus area Jewish leaders say they have been taking steps to increase security.

Safety and security protocols have been increased over the past decade thanks in part to a million dollar grant from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.  Officials say the money was used to install cameras, bullet-proof sheeting and barriers to prevent vehicle collisions.  Officials at Jewish Columbus also recently held a national safety meeting with Homeland Security and the FBI to help instruct Rabbis on what congregants should do in an active shooter situation.
