Columbus Schools Chief Says Forging And Improving Partnerships Will Lead To District Improvement

Superintendent Talisa Dixon says partnerships will be the key to improving Columbus City Schools.  

Speaking after a public conversation and celebration at the King Arts Complex Tuesday, the former Columbus Alternative High School principal said outreach starts with a vision for the future of the district.

Earlier this month Dixon announced the district's chief academic officer, Alesia Gillison, will head up a new department dedicated to aligning partners efforts with district goals.  Dixon says she spent Tuesday afternoon with city officials.  She says recent intiatives in Linden, and the committment to build a early education center in the Hilltop, are examples of efforts that will benefit the whole city.

Gillison's new job was among several changes in district structure approved by the Board of Education.
