Columbus City Schools are returning to online-only learning Monday, as Franklin County goes under a stay-at-home advisory until December 18th.
1,400 career and tech students at Fort Hayes and the Downtown High School will return to remote learning Monday November 23, and will not return to the hybrid model until January 4th, unless there are new city, county or statewide orders.
The district is also cancelling extracurricular activites and interscholastic sports starting Saturday through at least the extent of the county stay-at-home order December 18th. Officials say they will reassess the winter sports season then.
Beginning Monday, November 30th the district will also change the way it handles the free meals it has distributed to Columbus children since the beginning of the pandemic. Rather than daily meals, the district will distribute five-day packs of either fresh or shelf-stable meals at its 44 sites. Meals will be available for pick up Wednesdays from 11am-1pm, or evenings from 5-7pm. School officials say they will advise parents if staff shortages require them to consolidate sites.
