Columbus Firefighters Installing Free Smoke Alarms

Wikimedia Commons

Columbus Firefighters and Ohio State University Students will be going door-to-door in Franklinton on Saturday to install free smoke alarms and provide fire safety education.

They will be targeting more than 300 homes in the area of West Broad Street south to Sullivant Avenue, between South Princeton and Glenwood Avenues. The fire division says Franklinton has seen a number of fatal fires so far this year. The division also has a smoke alarm hotline for people to call to get a firefighter to install a smoke detector in other areas of the city at no charge. The number to call is 614-724-0935.
