Dublin-based Wendy's is no longer interested in buying the Papa John's pizza chain.
Reports coming out of Wall Street of a merger were significantly downplayed yesterday. Earlier this year Wendy's largest shareholder, Nelson Peltz, was reportedly exploring the move through his private equity fund. He said Thursday he is not interested in a merger. Wendy's or any other investor would have a hard time repairing damage to the brand after its founder and CEO was caught using a racial slur.
