The world is intense right now. Between the campaign ads, the 24-hour news cycles, social media, AI-generated videos and all the other digital distractions. Everyone seems to be demanding attention.
At 90.5 FM, we give you a place to exhale.
We trust that you're an engaged citizen; you don't need us to yell at you with manufactured outrage. Instead, we encourage you to act local, buy local, vote local, and rock local. That’s why we deliver exactly five minutes of NPR news headlines at the top of the hour, then get right back to the art that actually sustains us: the music.
When the world is stress, WCBE is medicine. We are the cure for the common algorithm. No automated AI playlists — just real people spinning tracks and interviewing your favorite national and Columbus bands live in Studio A.
It's a people-powered, open-code, music-discovery machine.
Transmitting 24-7 from downtown's LeVeque Tower and our Fort Hayes Campus studios. And we promise to keep it simple - and 100% free from commercial interruptions and political ads.
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary as a part of Columbus City Schools serving Central Ohio, our reality is changing too. Public radio is no longer publicly funded. But we will not let Federal cuts keep us down, because keeping these microphones on is 100% listener-powered. We answer to you.
Our Fall 2026 Fund Drive is underway. If this station is your daily refuge, we need you to step up and keep the signal strong.
Make your monthly donation today to score these 70th-anniversary thank-you gifts (and yes, they stack—you receive all lower-tier gifts with a higher pledge!):
- $10/month: The "Radio Free Columbus" T-shirt designed by local partners Lost Radicals.
- $20/month (VIP): A pair of tickets to an upcoming WCBE-sponsored event.
- $30/month (Super VIP): An exclusive WCBE Throwback Design Hoodie (inspired by Charlie Hayford's personal collection) and an invite to our annual member event.

Thank you for being the power behind the station!
