When is a movie worse than last year's David-Duchovny "Evolution"? When it's "Serving Sara," starring Matthew Perry and Elizabeth Hurley.
Not even her much-watched body and his Chandler-Bing attitude can save this piece of Hollywood junk probably no one but Paramount would take.
You figure it-Perry needs to make the movie transition from "Friends" and she needs more notoriety than dumping Hugh Grant. But "Serving Sara" could only sink both their ambitions: it's a lame story about process server Perry, who serves divorce papers to a wealthy Texas wife Hurley, who in turn engages Perry to serve her philandering husband. I may revisit Perry's "The Whole Nine Yards"-it might be funny by contrast.
Of note in "Serving Sara" is the possibility that the civil rights movement may be seriously set back by the ultra-stereotyped performance of Cedric-the Entertainer as Perry's boss. The stadium scene with a bunch of gun-toting Texans is a welcome bit of satire amidst utter stupidity. That's the best I can do short of serving the director papers for cultural pollution.
