Labor Day 2020 Special Programming
On this Labor Day (Monday, September 7th), WCBE is bringing you a slew of specialized programming!
9am – “Workin’: Work Songs in Jazz and Popular Music” - Jazz historian Ted Gioia looks at the influence of the work song in the recordings of Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Nat Adderley, Dave Brubeck and others.
10am – “Hey, Check This Out” - WCBE’s Jim Maneri supplies your holiday with labor-related songs including Rosie the Riveter, an introduction to hard working LA pop-art music maker Louis Cole, the all-women Big Bands of WWII, a spotlight on Jacob Collier and more.
12pm – “Trip The Groove Fantastic” features the return of WCBE personality and long-time Central Ohio musician Los Giles. Los takes us on a trip through Ohio’s rich Groove history with the Ohio Players, Rusty Bryant, RJD2 and more.
2pm – “Paul McCartney’s Flaming Pie” special examines the recently issued Deluxe Edition of his 10th solo album, originally released in 1997
