Casinos generate nearly $20 million in tax revenue

The Ohio Casino Control Commission says people wagered more than $417 million at casinos in Cleveland and Toledo during their first full month of operation. And the casinos generated nearly $20 million in tax revenue since opening in May.

The city of Cleveland will receive more than one-million dollars in casino tax revenue, while Cuyahoga County will receive 550-thousand dollars. Nearly seven-million dollars will be handed out to public school districts statewide. Roger Gros, the publisher of a major trade publication, calls the revenue figures strong.
