The Ohio Attorney General's Office is appealing a Franklin County judge's November ruling that cleared the name of a man who spent more than five years on death row for a pair of 1982 slayings he didn't commit. The ruling allows Dale Johnston to seek state compensation. The state through the years has consistently blocked Johnston's efforts to be compensated. The case against him toppled on appeal, and he was freed in 1990. In 2008 another man confessed to the slayings.
