Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is announcing expanded efforts to train Ohio's law enforcement officers in firearms and car-chase safety. DeWine's office says demand from law-enforcement agencies has led to plans to increase the number of training simulators available. DeWine will be traveling around the state this week with the mobile firearms and driving simulators as training begins with the existing units. About 140 law enforcement agencies have requested use of the new simulators so far. The Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy provides the free training. DeWine, who introduced the mobile simulators in October, says they will better prepare officers for dangerous, life-threatening situations. They were bought with taxes on Ohio's new casino industry.
