Judge Upholds Exotic Animals Law

A federal judge says today Ohio’s law regulating the ownership of exotic-animals is constitutional. The judge rejected a request by exotic animal owners for a temporary restraining order and a permanent injunction. The owners claimed the law infringes on their First, Fourth, Fifth and 14th Amendment rights. The judge says the owners failed to prove their claim. The law requires owners to register their animals with the state and obtain insurance. It also contains other requirements for cages, fencing and signage.
