The City of Columbus says the Rumpke company will pick up Christmas trees at the curb free of charge. The city says the trees must be set out by 6 a.m. on the day when yard waste is collected. The city says residents may also take their trees to one of Rumpke's nine yard-waste drop-off locations. Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, tinsel or other decorations, and must be cut in half if they are 8 feet or taller. Fire prevention expert Allen Robnet says it's a good idea to get rid of the tree before it dries out.
