Ohio Senate Approves Voting Access Bill

The Ohio House is now considering a Senate-passed measure aimed at improving access to the polls for disabled voters. The bill was introduced after an election cycle filled with partisan debate over voting rules. It requires polling locations to be compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. It also ensures blind, disabled or illiterate voters get assistance in marking their ballots. Voters would also have more time to use a voting machine. The legislation also ensures journalists have reasonable access to polling locations during an election, and early voters may cast ballots even if they are still waiting in line when a polling place closes.
