Akron police say a University of Akron officer shot and killed a 64-year-old man during a traffic stop last night after he produced what later was determined to be a BB pistol.Akron police Sergeant Rick Edwards says the officer thought the gun brandished by James Genda looked like a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
Genda's daughter says her father was attempting to turn the gun over to the officer. Edwards says an investigation continues.
