Board Approves Plans For Poindexter Village

The Columbus Board of Zoning Adjustment has approved plans to raze at least part of the Poindexter Village housing complex on the East side. The Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority wants to raze more than two dozen structures to make room for a 100-unit apartment building for seniors. Neighbors have protested the project, claiming the buildings are part of the city's African-American heritage. Officials say ten buildings at the site could be preserved for that purpose.
