The Ohio Department of Insurance says insurers planning to participate in the new health insurance exchange are projecting their costs will be higher. Consumers may obtain private health insurance, subsidized by the federal government, through the exchange starting October 1st. Ohio Governor John Kasich chose to let the federal government operate the exchange, instead of allowing the state to set up one of its own. The department is still reviewing proposed rates. Fourteen companies, including Aetna and Medical Mutual of Ohio, have filed plans.
