Local Hospital Settles Lawsuit

Ohio State University's medical center has settled a negligence lawsuit involving a brain-damaged newborn. The Ohio Court of Claims has approved the 5.25 million dollar settlement of a lawsuit filed by a Columbus-area couple over the 2006 birth of their son. Saynad Muse and Ali Gelle claimed an obstetrician waited too long to determine whether a cesarean-section was necessary, resulting in a brain injury to the child. The couple's attorney says the child, now 7 years old, requires around-the-clock care.
