Man Involved In Chase Gets Prison Time

The suspect chased by Whitehall police last year when another driver was killed in a collision with a cruiser has been sentenced to one year in prison. 30-year-old Matthew Jones will also lose his drivers license for a year. Prosecutors say Jones fled from police in late November after he was accused of harassing and threatening his ex-girlfriend. Officer Enrique Ortega responded to the resulting traffic stop and crashed into another vehicle, killing the driver, 78-year-old Vernon Lightle.
