Two Counties May Seek Disaster Aid

Lake and Cuayhoga counties are assessing damage from last week's heavy rains and flooding, in the hope of seeking state and federal disaster aid. Lake County Emergency Management Agency director Larry Greene says assessments have been conducted on more than 15 hundred homes that may have structural damage from flooding. County commissioners have already declared a state of emergency, but the state and federal governments have yet to declare Lake County a disaster area. Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald has signed an order declaring a state of emergency as a result of the severe storms and flooding last Saturday.
