Port Columbus officials will open a new south runway today. Two thirds of the 140 million dollar construction cost was paid by the Federal Aviation Administration. The longer airstrip creates enough space to allow simultaneous takeoffs and landings on the neighboring north runway. The old south runway will become a taxiway.
