A Columbus police deputy chief has been chosen to lead Cincinnati's department. Jeffrey Blackwell has more than two decades of experience as a Columbus police officer. Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney says Blackwell has broad experience and has been commended in Columbus for outreach to young people and immigrant populations, advancing technology use, community-based efforts to reduce crime and cutting operating costs. Blackwell grew up in an inner-city neighborhood in Columbus and has been an active youth mentor. He will take over September 30, heading a department of some 1,300 employees.
