The American Civil Liberties Union says it is joining third parties in Ohio in opposing a bill that sets new hurdles to ballot access. Representatives of the Green and Libertarian parties also are protesting the measure sponsored by Republican State Senator Bill Seitz. The bill was introduced as Ohio Republicans face growing competition from Tea Party supporters who say they may back a third-party challenger to Governor John Kasich in next year's gubernatorial race. Seitz claims his bill updates minor party rules in the wake of a lawsuit.
