UA Promotes Tressel

Former Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel has been named an executive vice president at the University of Akron. Tressel will help the school's president achieve his goals before Luis Proenza steps down in June. Proenza is taking a year long sabbatical and plans to return to teaching. Tressel was forced to resign from OSU in 2011 amid the memorabilia scandal involving several of his players. It's the third title Tressel has held at the university in the past 18 months. The University has hired a Dallas-based head-hunting firm to identify candidates for the presidency position.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
