Advocacy Group Says Capitol One Complaints Shed Light On Bad Marketing Practices

More Ohioans  have complained about Capital One than any other credit card company. Ohio Public Radio's Andy Chow reports.

That’s according to a report from the Ohio Public Interest Research Group, also known as PIRG. The study compiled data from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It also says Ohio ranks 19th on the list of states most likely to complain about credit card companies. Bryan Stewart with Ohio PIRG’s Education Fund says the bureau’s statistics can shed light on important consumer issues happening around the country.

Stewart: It allows our government and the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau -- better tools to spot trends on where consumers might be deceived when it comes to marketing.

Stewart adds that this data can help state leaders be well-informed when creating policy regarding credit marketing issues.
