Chemical Tests Of Ohio River Water In Cincinnati Below Hazardous Levels

Cincinnati water officials say samples show chemical levels in the Ohio River are well below what is considered hazardous. River intake valves were closed late Tuesday night in anticipation of tainted water arriving from the Elk River in West Virginia, site of last week's chemical spill. The Elk feeds into the Ohio. Last week a chemical used in coal processing leaked from a Charleston plant into the nearby Elk. Cincinnati is using a reserve of 60 hours of treated water that was built up following the spill.
