Natural Gas Power Plant Slated For SW Ohio Could Bring 400 Jobs

A Florida based energy company says it plans to spend more than $500 million dollars on a natural gas-fired power plant in southwest Ohio that could mean jobs for 400 people in the area. NTE Energy says it plans to operate "one of the most efficient natural gas-fired power plants in the country" in Middletown. Officials say permit applications have started with construction expected to begin in 2015. The company says most of the construction jobs at the Middletown Energy Center are expected to be filled by the members of skilled trades unions. When it's finished in 2018, the plant is expected to add around 25 to 30 full-time jobs to the Middletown area. The company says the center will supply the power needs of about 400-thousand homes.
