Second CDF Official Implicated In Sexual Misconduct Case

A Columbus fire official is facing discipline for failing to report a firefighter's on-duty sexual misconduct. Battalion Chief Jerry Birkhimer is facing internal charges of dishonesty, insubordination, neglect of duty and failure to display good behavior. Birkhimer is accused of knowing about firefighter Mark Cain having sex with an 18-year-old woman inside of a firehouse and failing to report it to division higher-ups. Fire officials have recommended termination for Cain.
