No Charges For UA Officer Who Killed Six In Car Crash

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien says no charges will be filed against an Upper Arlington police officer whose cruiser crashed into a car in an intersection last October, killing six members of a family. O'Brien says dash-cam video shows Upper Arlington officer Shawn Paynter's cruiser drove into a Perry Township intersection with a yellow light on while heading to an emergency call. A car driven by a Columbus man already entered the intersection on a red light and stopped in the middle. The subsequent crash killed the driver, his wife and four of their daughters. O'Brien says there is no basis for filing criminal or traffic charges.
