Placeholder's Loss In Primary Costs Damschroder His Seat

An Ohio lawmaker's wife has lost her bid to serve as his placeholder after a paperwork error forced him off Tuesday's primary ballot. Rep. Rex Damschroder of Fremont failed to sign his candidate petitions the required number of times, which kept him from running for re-election. His wife, Rhonda, ran as a write-in candidate for his northwestern Ohio seat. Tiffin businessman William Reineke Jr. prevailed in the three-way contest.
