Columbus Zoo Ends Plans For Downtown Campus

Franklin County voters won't be asked again to pay for a downtown expansion of the Columbus Zoo.

Zoo officials are scrapping the downtown idea after voters soundly rejected a tax hike to pay for it last month. In nixing the downtown zoo campus, officials say there's no need for a permanent tax increase on a future ballot. Columbus Zoo President and CEO Tom Stalf says officials are considering a smaller levy request and continue to gather feedback from residents as well as city and county officials.
