Gambling Interests Say JobsOhio Ruling Protects Them From Suit

A coalition of gambling interests is citing a recent Ohio Supreme Court decision involving Governor John Kasich's privatized job-creation agency, JobsOhio, as grounds to dismiss a separate lawsuit challenging video lottery terminals at horse tracks. Both cases involve a nonprofit organization's legal standing to sue the Kasich administration for alleged constitutional violations. The high court decided last month that ProgressOhio, a progressive policy group, and other parties lacked standing to pursue constitutional challenge to JobsOhio. Casino companies and race track operators jointly told the justices Wednesday that precedent applies in a lawsuit brought by the Ohio Roundtable, a business-backed group, challenging Kasich's legalization of  the machines.
