New Service Center Groundbreaking, New Jobs Announced For Columbus' South Side

A Columbus company that makes parts for rail cars will expand and add more than 500 jobs.

Plans for the growth of Columbus Castings on the city's south side coincided today with the city's groundbreaking for the Reeb Avenue Center.

Scheduled to open next summer, the 18-thousand square-foot facility will include a number of services including childcare, education, job training and workforce development. Tenants expected to operate at the new center include Boys and Girls Clubs of Columbus, Godman Guild and Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Columbus Castings will invest 16-million dollars over the next three years on the expansion with a focus on attracting workers who live in the area.  The company is adding employees to serve an anticipated growth in demand for steel and repair parts. The company is also getting state and local tax breaks.
