American Automobile Association chapters in central and southwest Ohio are gauging interest in providing emergency roadside assistance for bicyclists. The chapters are sponsoring a survey asking bike riders to give feedback on their needs and suggestions. The club already offers bike assistance in other states. The programs help cyclists with roadside repairs, or take a biker to a shop in the case of a more serious problem. The Governors Highway Safety Association says annual bicyclist deaths rose by 16 percent between 2010 and 2012. Nearly 70 percent of those deaths occurred in urban areas.
