A Columbus police officer shot and wounded a man and a woman through the door of a known drug house after the officer's hand was slammed in the door and trapped. 44-year-old Brian Bates is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer and a 23-year-old woman were treated and released. Police officials say the officer was responding to a call from a man who was trying to get his sister out of the Hinman Avenue home on the South side, where she was using heroin. The man who answered the door slammed it when he saw the officer.
