The Brice Village Council voted last night to fire police chief James Ebersbach. The move comes nine months after it was recommended by Mayor Amy Evans, alleging professional misconduct. Evans says he questioned her authority to set his schedule when she wanted him to stop working from home, he turned in incomplete time sheets and tried to lay off officers without authority. Ebersbach says he will appeal. He is also suing Evans and the village for overtime and back wages.
