Sheriff Scott Announces Mayoral Run

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott has issued a statement saying he plans to run for mayor of Columbus. Scott says he has the experience to help local neighborhoods thrive, keep families safe and bring new jobs to the city. The Democrat is the first person to formally announce a mayoral bid. Scott plans to further outline his plan for Columbus next week. Scott has been sheriff since 2011 and has worked in law enforcement for over 30 years. Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman announced this week he will not seek a record fifth term in office next year.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
