A central Ohio company doing demolition work on a Cincinnati overpass that collapsed and left one worker dead has a good safety track record.
U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration spokesperson Scott Allen says Westerville-based Kokosing Construction belonged to a program for companies that meet stringent safety and health standards. Allen says OSHA has inspected the company in Ohio at least 55 times since 2003 and found fewer than 10 violations. The work on Interstate 75 is part of a three-year, nearly $91 million project. A worker from Kentucky died Monday night, and a tractor-trailer driver from Michigan suffered minor injuries. Allen says federal investigators are interviewing potential witnesses and company employees. Crews cleared the interstate and reopened lanes last night.
