A deep-sea treasure hunter from Columbus appeared in a Florida courtroom today. 61-year-old Tommy Thompson told a judge he has an "extreme medical situation." Thompson is accused of cheating investors out of their share of 50 million dollars recovered from a shipwreck in 1988. He was arrested on Tuesday in Palm Beach County after two years on the run. Thompson says he will fight extradition. He claims to have encephalitis and allergies that would be exacerbated by returning to Ohio. He is due back in court next Wednesday.
