Central Ohio Man Pleads Not Guilty To Supporting Terrorism Charges

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

Bond is set at 1 million dollars for a central Ohio man who pleaded not guilty to state charges of supporting terrorism and money laundering. Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien says Somali native Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud provided money and a computer tablet to a terrorist organization in Syira during a visit there in the past year.

A judge set the bond despite O'Brien's request for a 2.5 million dollar bond.  O'Brien says Mohamud was arrested Saturday at a West side home because he posed a public risk locally.  Defense attorney Sam Shamansky says Mohamud does not pose a risk and notes he has been under investigation for a year and a half before he was taken into custody.

And Shamanski told the judge the allegations do not add up.

Federal charges are expected to be filed in the case.
