Medication Missing From Columbus Ambulances

An investigation by Columbus police has found several bottles of medications went missing from two fire department ambulances during a 24-hour period in March. One of the drugs was fentanyl, a powerful narcotic that has been mistakenly used by heroin addicts and has been attributed to a rising number of overdose deaths. The other missing drug was used to treat people with seizures. A deputy fire chief says an investigation could not find a valid reason the drugs were missing. A subsequent review found by authorities found broken and malfunctioning locks on drug compartments in 13 ambulances and out-of-date record-keeping.  Columbus police are investigating and have questioned several firefighters.
