Commission Chair Says Ten Police Academies Will Stay Open

ohioattorneygeneral.gov

The head of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission says ten police academies with low graduation rates will remain open despite a recommendation from a state task force to cull up to half of Ohio's 62 police academies. Commission chair and Fayette County Sheriff Vern Stanforth says less than half of enrollees at those 10  academies ended up as law enforcement officers over the past three years. Eastern Gateway Community College in Steubenville has the lowest graduation rate, at 37 percent.
