Knox County Deputy Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Inmate's Death

washingtonpost.com

Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville says a grand jury has cleared a sheriff's deputy in the death of a man he scuffled with at a the county jail on April 23. 34-year-old David Dehmann of Mount Vernon died two days after he was incarcerated. McConville says  a state investigation determined Dehmann was intoxicated, on blood thinner medication and had fallen before being taken to jail on a disorderly conduct charge. McConville says Dehmann became aggressive in the intake area and a scuffle ensued.
