Attempts by the Cincinnati Reds to get the highest value in a trade of closer Aroldis Chapman took a hit yesterday after a report of his involvement in a domestic violence incident. Yahoo Sports reports Chapman assaulted his girlfriend in their Florida home and fired several gunshots into the garage of the home on October 30. No charges were filed. The Reds had reportedly traded the 27-year-old lefty fireballer to the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday, but the deal appears to have fallen through for now. A spokesperson for Major League Baseball says the matter will be handled under the league’s new domestic abuse policy.
